Pilot Hiring FAQs

Navigating the PlaneSense First Officer Application Process

Most Common Questions that Prospective Pilots Ask

What are the required flight hours for applicants?

PlaneSense will accept applications from applicants with as low as 750 hours total time. However; highly qualified applicants will have a minimum of 1,000 total time, experience in technically advanced aircraft and their CFII.

How do I submit my application?

All applications must be submitted through Airline Apps. We are not able to consider applications sent via email. To apply via Airline Apps, click here.

I recently submitted my application. When will I hear back?

You’ll receive a confirmation email after submitting your application. PlaneSense receives hundreds of pilot applications every month and each one is carefully reviewed by the Recruiting team. Depending on our hiring needs at the time, it may take some time before qualified applicants are contacted.

I’ve added to my experience and flight hours since submitting my application. How do I update my resume?

All applications may be updated at any time via your Airline Apps account.

Which reporting bases are you actively recruiting for right now?

PlaneSense pilots have their choice of more than 40 reporting bases across the U.S. We hire based on pilot qualifications and experience, not location. You can see our full list of bases here.

Which reporting bases allow pilots to get the most flight hours?

Due to our highly dynamic operation, this could vary week to week. Pilots average 500-600 hours a year across the board, typically with more hours being flown in the summer months.

Are First Officers able to log all their time in the PC-12?

Yes, both the PIC and SIC are able to log flight time. Pilatus certifies the PC-12 as a one or two pilot aircraft and our operations require two.

Where can I go to meet your recruiters?

You can find our list of recruiting events here. We can also schedule a tour of our headquarters in Portsmouth, NH if you’d like to visit! You can coordinate that by contacting careers@planesense.com.

What skills does PlaneSense look for in potential pilots?

PlaneSense pilots should have excellent stick and rudder skills and be well versed in all flying environments. Outside of the flight deck, our pilots should have experience in customer service and demonstrate the desire to provide service that is above and beyond.

If I previously applied on ADP will I lose my spot in line by applying on AirlineApps?

No, we will always hire based on who is the most qualified. We will note your original application date on your new application if we are faced with similarly experienced candidates.

Do I still need to email updated resumes to careers@planesense.com?

No, with the AirlineApps platform you are able to update your own application when you have increases in flight time, or other changes in experience.
