Component Shop Technician
Atlas Aircraft Center, Inc. (AAC) and sister company PlaneSense, Inc., (PSI), located in Portsmouth, NH, will soon be seeking a Component Shop Technician.
The Component Shop Technician assists the Shops and Special Projects Manager in completing timely maintenance and return to service of aircraft components in accordance with applicable technical data, industry standards, and the Atlas Aircraft Center “Repair Station Manual.” The Component Shop Technician has strong knowledge and understanding of testing, troubleshooting, and repairing of electrical and mechanical systems and components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Read and interpret component maintenance manuals, aircraft maintenance manuals, test procedures, electrical schematics, and industry standards as applicable.
- Inspect, function test, and repair aircraft components at a shop level in accordance with applicable technical data, industry standards, and procedures contained in the Atlas Repair Station Manual.
- Complete Work Order package documentation in accordance with the instructions contained in Appendix A of the Atlas Repair Station Manual.
- Perform maintenance with the highest quality of workmanship, avoiding any act which may endanger personnel or cause damage to equipment and articles.
- Adheres to the manufacturer’s safety precautions before, during and after aircraft and component maintenance.
- Work with and around a variety of chemicals and follow all OSHA standards regarding PPE.
- May perform other tasks as required by the department, communicate findings, and make recommendations to the management/leadership team.
Qualifications:
- Carries valid driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SIDA Badge
- Possess a positive attitude towards learning, productivity, safety, and quality maintenance.
- Ability to follow directions, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift 80 pounds regularly.
- Ability to pass a DOT/FAA mandated pre-employment drug test & participate in a random drug and alcohol testing program during employment.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- Good mechanical aptitude and ability to solve problems effectively.
- Minimum of 18 months of practical experience in the procedure, practices, inspection methods, materials, tools, machine tools, and equipment generally used in maintenance duties required.
- Work experience in troubleshooting, use of specialized tools, ground support equipment, and the use of maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, technical reports, and forms preferred.
- Ability to operate shop tooling utilized during component repair. Tooling includes but is not limited to Digital Multimeter, force gauges, and other various test equipment.
- Previous aircraft maintenance experience is not required.
Computer Skills:
Must have knowledge of or be able to learn and effectively utilize MS Office suite, Corridor, and other aviation related software.

The noise level in the work environment is often loud from machines and airplanes. At times, stress can build from time limitations, employee and customer demands, and heavy material handling. Work is often performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
